BPESA WESTERN CAPE AND WESGRO SIGN MOU TO WORK CLOSER TOGETHER TO BOOST BPO SECTOR

Wesgro (the official Tourism, Trade and Investment Promotion Agency for Cape Town and the Western Cape) and BPESA Western Cape (Business Process Enabling South Africa) are pleased to announce the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two organisations that will see closer cooperation to boost the business process outsourcing and offshoring (BPO) sector in the Cape.

This joint venture is established for an initial period of one year with the intention of establishing a framework for future cooperation and the possibility of stronger integration. This will include BPESA Western Cape being co-located within Wesgro’s offices, which will help enhance the service provided to investors.

Indeed, by working closer together, more efficiency and cross-selling will be possible, which is vital for landing investment in the future.

The BPO sector is a major economic driver in Cape Town and the Western Cape, accounting for 51 000 jobs in the Province, including 20 500 international seats, representing 60% of South Africa’s total. Its continued success is essential for sustaining economic growth and job creation in the Cape.

Tim Harris, CEO of Wesgro said that “we are very excited to welcome BPESA into our offices this month and we look forward to an enhanced working relationship as a result of this joint venture.”

Gareth Pritchard, CEO of BPESA said “I believe that the closer working relationship between Wesgro and BPESA will enable stronger support for the BPO sector – which has been a leading creator for job creation in Cape Town and the Western Cape in the last decade.”
