NEWSLETTER – JANUARY 2018
- January 18, 2018
Dear Stakeholder,With the holiday season now behind us, BPESA would like to welcome back all our industry stakeholders. As we look forward to the new year, we also reflect on our valued partnerships and wish for its continued prosperity.
Firstly, the Western Cape is experiencing its worst drought in more than a hundred years. Cape Town’s new “Day Zero” is April 20th‚ just 87 days away. The City of Cape Town says that industrial water use makes up only a small fraction of Cape Town’s total water use, however, figures provided to Daily Maverick by Xanthea Limberg, the mayoral committee member in charge of water, suggest that industrial water use in the city amounts to only 4.2% of the total.
We have all been guilty of taking water for granted and that has to stop right now. We can look back and see some of the things we should have done, but that does not solve our immediate problems. While we are not aware of any potential investors that have specifically changed their investment plans as a direct result of the water shortages, they are cautious of the water crisis. BPESA encourages all our stakeholders to implement water-saving campaigns within their businesses in order to postpone the imminent tragedy of “Day Zero”.
Representatives from the City of Cape Town will be joining us on 31 January 2018 at 11am to discuss the present drought status and also the challenges that your companies will be facing. During the meeting we would like best practices to be shared with all our stakeholders. We would appreciate your company’s participation at this event.
We are starting 2018 with quite a bang! BPESA has partnered with the Global Sourcing Association (GSA) to host the largest, most relevant BPO Summit to come to the African continent. From 13th – 16th March, Cape Town, South Africa will attract 300+ professionals, a significant portion of whom will be buyers of sourcing services. The GSA Global Summit & Awards 2018 will provide tangible insights into subject areas such as Customer Experience, Robotics Process Automation, Managing Outsourcing Relationships, Digital Transformation, Innovation and Exit Management.
For all of those with the gift of a terrific backswing (or those without), BPESA Western Cape proudly invites you to become part of our golf day, which will take place at Bellville Golf Club on Friday 2 March 2018. The success of such an event is a result of the involvement of both players and sponsors and we would like to offer you the opportunity to get involved as a business or individual, either through sponsorship or participation. The BPESA brand has grown into a leading household name in the BPO industry and we would be delighted if you chose to support us. This year, we are targeting a minimum turnout of 80 high-level executives, industry stakeholders and clients; and we welcome you to come out and enjoy this great day of golf and entertainment!
