GBS Sector Jobs Report Q3 2019

BPESA is pleased to release this Q3, 2019 GBS Sector Job Creation Report for export services to our stakeholder groups covering the period July to September 2019. It provides insights into where the sector is experiencing growth and how it is meeting the service and delivery demands of global organisations, buyers and investors. This information is used to assist decision makers with marketing and skills related decisions and to track and report on progress made against official job growth targets set by our partners and reported to structures such as the Jobs Summit and the Public Private Growth Initiative (PPGI).
The sector continues to grow, adding more than 4000 new jobs on average per quarter in 2019, up 45% compared to the same period in 2018. There was notable growth in the Western Cape and continued expansion in KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng and Eastern Cape during the Quarter with BPO & contact centre services accounting for 41% of total new jobs followed by the retail (12%) and utilities & energy (11%) vertical industries.
