NASSCOM 2018

In February, a delegation of BPESA EXCO members and the dti, attended the annual NASSCOM World Conference on Information Technology (WCIT) and the India Leadership Forum (ILF) in Hyderabad.
The theme “Amplify Digital: Disrupt the Core” paved the way for a content rich agenda. NASSCOM structured the event into various forums covering key themes impacting the world at large.
These included;
- AI Forums, Amplifying Digital Forum – Technology talks around cloud, DevOps tools
- Amplify You Forum – Focused on future of work, skills and skilling the talent
- Open Innovation – Collaboration model, the power of innovation
- Intelligent Automation Forum discussions around automation and Robotic Process Automation (RPA)
- Design Forum – Discussions around design thinking in the 21st Century
59 companies showcased their solutions covering the following themes: Digital Disruptors and Consuming AI; Digital Disruptors and Digital Design.
The SA delegation held many on-site meetings including meetings with senior delegations from NASSCOM and the Telangana Government. In addition, site visits were hosted at the t-hub (one of the inspiring Incubation Hubs in Tech City), and at the EXL site in Hyderabad.
While India and South Africa are significantly different in their respective BPO / ITES market – scale, maturity, positioning and focus; there is much we can learn from the approach and much value to be leveraged in our relationship with India and NASSCOM. We are busy compiling a summary of the visit with links to various reports and commentary on the key themes listed above – These will be made available to members later in the month.
