Dear BPESA members

A technical consultation workshop was facilitated by NEDLAC on Thursday the 25th June to discuss the proposed new methodology for the formulation of lists for occupations in high demand; priority occupations; and critical skills. BPESA participated in this meeting with the business grouping coordinated by BUSA. One of the key actions coming out of this meeting was a call to all social partners (Government; Communities; Business and Labour) to comment on the methodology and the lists – as part of the consultative process, before these are finalised. The partners agreed to a three week consultation period, starting directly after the workshop.

BPESA would like to engage its members in an industry workshop to be held on Friday the 10th July from 2pm to 4pm (you will need to register for the workshop online via the BPESA website before the session – to receive an invitation to the session).

Please will you read through the following documents and prepare your comments before the workshop (documentation will be sent to BPESA Members by email):

  • Presentation – linkages between the different lists
  • Presentation – Jobs Summit Presentation
  • Critical Skills List
  • Occupations in High Demand List
  • Priority Occupations List
  • BPESA list of Critical Skills (top 15) submitted to and approved by DHET in January 2020

You will notice that not all of the BPESA listed critical skills have been included in the draft lists published by DHET. This has been flagged to them.

In particular, please review the BPESA list of critical skills and comment on any skills to be added; please also comment on the methodology being applied and make suggestions for improvement. Key points that we have already raised to be addressed by DHET include:

  • More focus on demand led skilling and prioritising funding for jobs in high demand
  • Focus on short courses that deliver task / jobs specific skills
  • Credentialing, Certification, Accreditation, Qualifications, Designations
  • Experience versus Qualification for Critical skills

You are welcome to direct any questions to me via email although Id like to suggest that we address them in the workshop on the 10th July.

This is a very important element of the skills ecosystem that we must influence with our commentary and recommendations so please ensure that you engage the relevant role players in your company before making your contribution in the workshop.

9 a.m. CDT, 10 a.m. EDT, 3 p.m. BST, 7:30 p.m. IST

The future is now for Work From Home (WFH). While WFH is not a new concept, COVID-19 has dramatically changed the way global leaders look at the need for, and benefits of, WFH. As a result, scaled WFH is inevitable in the global services industry, even after COVID-19-related restrictions ease.

In this webinar, we will share insights you can use in developing your global business services (GBS) WFH strategy including:

Convictions on the future state of WFH adoption
Business case for scaled WFH adoption
Best practices for integrating WFH into delivery models

You’ll get answers to questions such as:

What is the business case for scaled WFH in a post-COVID-19 world?
How do you determine the scale and scope of work for WFH adoption?
What are the key elements of integrating WFH into the GBS delivery model?
What talent and operating model changes are needed to build a remote workforce for the future in GBS?

Who should attend and why?

This session will help leaders across organizations evaluate impact and uncover opportunities:
Global Business Services / Shared Services Center / Global In-house Center Executives
IT Executives
Strategic Outsourcing and Vendor Management Executives
Service Provider Executives

Can’t join us live? Register anyway!

All registrants will receive an email (typically within 1-2 business days of the live presentation) containing the link to the slides and on-demand playback.

WEBINAR - Death of Mobile VPNs?

T Forge Death of VPNs WEBINAR 10 June PresentersRight now every business relies on employees working from home. This brings increased security risk, regular internet drops, VPN failures, call quality issues, and no control over high data costs. The technology that all companies are using to manage this massive migration away from the office to WFH, were never designed for this and are inherently flawed.

The VPN simply wasn’t built for the security, scalability, or visibility needs of today. A new approach is displacing the VPN. Defined by Gartner as zero-trust-network-access (ZTNA) and also known as the software-defined perimeter (SDP), it enables enterprises to extend nimble, secure, precision access over even the worst internet connection.

Francois (CEO of TForge) and Nico (Global Innovation and Information Manager at CMC Networks) will discuss how this Next-Gen Mobile Remote Access Technology will change the WFH world forever and why every business without fail must use this.
