“I grew up in a very unfortunate area called Manenberg. A place where most children’s dreams shatter Infront of their eyes because of drugs, poverty etc. and because that is what I saw each and everyday I involved myself with sports to keep my busy every day. This gave me the opportunity to move from Manenberg to Mitchells Plain.
I would compete in races and did 110m which landed me 6th place in 2018. This made me give up all hope in myself. This was until I applied at Shadow Careers where I found a platform called Future Skills. There are so many things I have learned and studied. I saw a different life for myself, I even used it during non-working hours.
what stood out for me was that I didn’t have to pay to study, because of the FSP I see a future for myself, and it is free”.
